Why do we call God, Father God?
We find calling God, just God, very cold and impersonal. Yes He is God, but He is also very much our Father, so we relate to Him that way.
We are adopted sons and daughters with free unlimited access to our loving Father.
Jesus called Father God, Father (Luke 23v34) If you reading the new testament, you can tell the level of deepness and intimacy Jesus has with Father God.
Calling God Father, had a massive impact on my prayer times because I then started to relate to Father being very close and present and not distant like you would maybe imagine God to be.
Actually I aways call God, Father, not Father God. But to help you, when you read our posts, I call Him Father God. This way you won’t think I am talking about my own biological father.
Some people even call Father God, “Daddy”. Daddy is another name for a Father. Calling Father God daddy, is like a little child lifting up his or her hands and saying pick me up daddy. This I love, because we are all Father Gods children and it paints a lovely picture of just how Father God loves and sees us.
We are all to have child like faith, which means we shouldn’t over complicated our faith. So calling Father God “Daddy” is another lovely intimate way of calling Father God “Father”.
Religion would have us all just calling Father God “God”, as this kind of keeps us in the old testament where we are all still orphans just obeying Gods rules. However, now we are adopted sons and daughters of the most High God, we are now His children and can call Him Father.
If you read the old testament, it screams out, that Father God is so full of grace and mercy, constantly forgiving the children of Israel. The new testament is just like a beautiful love song to all Father God’s kids calling them home.
I would encourage you to think about calling Father God “Father”. I know for some of you this may be difficult, especially if your earthly father was not all that good or nice. But it will really help you relate to Father God as someone very close, reliable, protective, loving, just and actually interested in everything about you.
