You’re not a sinner saved by grace

You’re not a sinner saved by grace

I don’t know about you, but I was brought up believing that when I got saved, I was just a sinner saved by grace.

This is so far from the truth! Saying you’re a sinner saved by grace implies that even though you’re saved by grace (which is true!) your still very much a sinner. Wrong, wrong, wrong!

When Jesus died on that cross He dealt with the power of sin and death.

Romans 6 v1-11 (NLT)

So if we believe that being saved right now means we aren’t going to hell. Why do so many Jesus believers believe they are still just sinners saved by grace?

Why don’t we believe that, as Jesus also dealt with the power of sin, that we are no longer sinners?

You see the problem of believing that you are still a sinner saved by grace leads you to believe that sin still has power over you. This is so wrong, sin ceased having any power over you the very moment you put your trust in Jesus. As Romans 6 v6 (NLT) puts it, “our old sin selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might loose its power in our lives”.

So you may now be thinking, well if that’s true that sin no longer has any power over me, why do I struggle with stuff like addiction or lust or wrong thoughts, telling lies and unforgiveness?

Well, it’s just that you have believed a lie that sin has power over you and it doesn’t.

The moment you put your trust in Jesus being the Son of God and that He died for your sins, you became a new creation, the old gone, the new has come. You are righteous and washed as white as snow!

I know you may not feel that way, but even though you don’t feel that way it is still very much the truth.

2 Corinthians 5 v17

The problem has been that because you have believed the lie that you’re still under the power of sin, you have let it rule your life. Making you powerless to get free from sin. It’s that simple!

The moment you realise that you no longer have to sin and realise that to sin is now only a choice, you can simply choose not to sin.

Choosing not to sin means breaking the habits of addiction, lust, wrong thought, telling lies and unforgiveness? This takes time especially if you have been struggling with sin for a while and have built habits.

But the moment you realise that sin has no more power over you, it’s only a matter of time until you break all those habits and are able to live a sin-free life.

Ok, yes, I did just say a sin-free life. But think about it, if we are all meant to be like Jesus and do greater things than Jesus Himself, then yes we have to live sin free lives in order to do just that. So, therefore, it is possible to live a sin-free life.

Along with breaking all your habits you need to start renewing your mind. Which basically means you start to think and believe the way that Jesus does. Get into the Word, let it become a part of you and believe what it says.

Stop being a partial bible believer, stop picking and choosing what you want to believe from the bible. The bible is the inspired written word of God. Yes, we are still having new revelation about what the scriptures mean but your foundation has to be that you believe the WHOLE bible. Once you get over that little chestnut you will find it so much easier to renew your mind as your mind will no longer be in disagreement with your spirit.

You’re not a sinner saved by grace you are a new creature the old has gone the new has come NOW! Not when you die or we all get raptured into the fluffy white clouds.

RIGHT NOW you are a new creation, so start living like one!
