When a christian dies they do NOT fall asleep until the end of days!

There is a common christian belief that when a Christian dies, they breath their last, that the fall asleep until the end of days. This is totally incorrect and does not line up with scripture in anyway. The miss understanding comes from the phrase, they entered into rest, sleep in some popular translations is used instead of the correct term rest. When a Christian dies they are not only carried away by angels of God, they enter their final resting place Heaven. Where they are very much awake and fully conscious and interacting with other saints. Reading Luke 16:22-24 shows that even before the cross, saints and those destined for the eternal lake of fire are very much conscious and not asleep. Heaven is a place of rest, yes you can sleep in heaven but that is not your permanent state.
